Day 1: Welcome to Mashhad
Epic Persia’s tour director welcomes you at Mashhad International Airport.
Visit to Imam Reza Shrine (Ravazi Haram), a complex including Goharshad Mosque, museums, libraries, and seminaries.
Day 2: Mashhad & Neyshabur
Morning visits to Ferdowsi mausoleum, the poet of valuable epic Persian book named Shahnameh and Tomb of Nader Shah.
Departure from Mashhad for Gonabad via Neyshabur, one of the oldest cities in Iran. City tour will start with Tomb of Omar Khayyam, Persian mathematician, astronomer, and well-known poet. Next visits include Tomb of Attar of Neyshabur, well known Persian poet of 12th century, Shadiyakh also called Shadi palace in the ancient city of Neyshabur referring to a historical period from Sasanians to Mongol invasion with 350 hectares. Visit to Bazehoor Fire Temple or chahar taqi Bazehoor (four arcades of Sassanid era). Continuing the road to Gonabad.
Day 3: Gonbad & Birjand City Tour
Morning visit to wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Ghasabe Qanats of Gonabad or Kariz Kai Khosrow, the deepest aqueduct in the world founded by Cyrus the great in 6th century BC. Afterwards, visit to wind mill of Gonabad (Asiab Badi Gonabad).
Departure for Birjand. Upon arrival, visits to Birjand Castle, Kolah Farangi citadel (Arg-e Kolah farangi), Qanat Qassabeh through underground corridors, and Akbarieh Historical Garden inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage.
Finishing the day by having local dinner in Zaghe Bour local house with a marvelous live traditional music at night.
Day 4: Zabol Tour
Early morning departure for Zabol. First visit to Khatam village for sightseeing Karko fire temple (karkooyeh or Karkoushah) dating back to Sassanid era. Next, en route to Hamun city, visit to Khajeh mountain (Oshida Mountain) or (Rostam Mountain). Some stunning sights include fire temple of Kouh Khajeh, Kohan Dezh (old fort), and Chehel dokhtar Castle belonging to Parthian Empire or Sasanian era.
Day 5: Shahr-e Sukhteh & Zahedan
Half-day excursion to the ancient city of Shahr-e Sūkhté, (Shahr e Sukhteh or Shahr-i Shōkhta), remained from Bronze Age, as one of the most advanced cities in the ancient world. More visual perceptions by visiting Shahre Sukhteh museum.
Afterwards, departure for Zahedan for visiting Makki Mosque of Zahedan, one of the largest mosques in Iran and in the world for Sunni Muslims.
Day 6: Bam & Jiroft Tour
Long jurney (450 km) from Zahedan to Jiroft via Bam. Visit to Arg-e Bam or Bam citadel, the largest adobe structure in the world. Then continuing the road to Jiroft to visit Konar Sandal Tepe A & B Archaeological Hill.
Day 7: Jiroft & Sirjan
Morning visit to Jiroft archaeology Musuem. Continuing the road to Orzueeyeh for sightseeing Teppe Yahya and Shahre-e-Daghyanoos. Visit to Stone Garden en route.
Overnight stay in Sirjan hotel or Local house in Share Babak as per request.
Day 8: Darab via Meymand Rocky Village
Long jurney to Darab via Meymand. Visit to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meymand village, with 8000 to 12000 years of antiquity.
Day 9: Darab Tour
Morning visit to Relief of Shapur named Naghsh Shapur dating back to Sassanid era. Afterwards, visit to Azarakhsh fire temple or rocky mosque. And finally the ancient Sassanid city of Darabgerd.
Transfer to hotel, upon arrival in Shiraz.
Day 10: Shiraz & Persepolis
Morning visit to UNESCO World Heritage Eram Garden, a nice sample of Persian Gardens and today as the botanical garden of Shiraz. Then you will visit Estakhr, the largest ancient city in Iran, just seven kilometers to the north of Persepolis. Later on, arriving at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Takht-e Jamshid or as Greek historians Herodotus called it, “Persepolis“. You will visit the imposing ruins of the 2500-year-old Achaemenid ceremonial capital, known once as the richest city under the sun light.
Numerous palaces, gates, stairs with reliefs, halls, the treasury used to protect the Achaemenid Empire’s legendary treasures are to be visited.
Not far from Persepolis, you will visit Naqsh-e Rostam Necropolis, the rock reliefs and some tombs of the Achaemenid emperors.
Afterwards you will continue the way to Shiraz to you visit the Tomb of Hafez & Tomb of Saadi, the world famous Iranian poets. Finally you will visit covered Vakil Bazaar of Shiraz with colorful handicrafts and antique outlets and maybe purchasing souvenirs.
Day 11: Firuzabad Excursion
Half-day excursion tour to Firuzabad. En route visit to relief of Ardeshir I. showcasing the coronation of Sassanid king. Upon arrival in Firuzabad, visit to the spectacular 5th century complex including:
Konar Siah fire temple & surrounding buildings. Then you will enter the ancient city of Shahr-e Gur or Ardashir-Khwarrah, the first circular city in Iran and one of the first ones in the world along with a palace known as Palace of Ardashir Papakan and a central minaret called Tirbal minaret, built by Ardashir I.
Transfer to Shiraz Airport for the flight to Tehran. Transfer to hotel, upon arrival.
Day 12: Tehran, Homebound
Visit to Iran National Museum, the largest museum of Iran with a rich pre-Islamic archaeological & art collection.
Transfer to Imam Khomeini International Airport for the flight back home.
